A dictum now up there with always visiting Corti Brothers when I'm in the area is a new rule that I should have coffee whenever I'm in Sacramento. I'm not a daily drinker of coffee, but a few times a year, I will savor a cup. A couple weekends ago I was back in town and checked out Insight Coffee Roasters.
Insight's mission is encapsulated as Source-Roast-Brew.
I picked this branch for my visit because the roastery is located here.
Due to some recent coffee calamities, I verified before ordering that a cappuccino would have two shots of espresso. Yep, that's the standard here. This had the creamiest microfoam velvet that melded seamlessly into the espresso from first silken sip to the final sweet drop.
Espresso roast of the day was Mario Lopez from Mexico. Rather straightforward and not that complicated, tasting of smoky bacon dipped in chocolate.
While these beans seemed a bit flat to me, I certainly appreciated the barista's skill and look forward to trying other roasts.
