Hi All, I will be in New Orleans with 5 friends (so six people total) from June 4 to June 6th. We are staying in the French Quarter and won’t have a rental car, but I think we plan to rent bikes Saturday during the day. I’ve read a lot on this site and I don’t want to have a strict itinerary mapped out because we prefer to just explore, that said I like to have a list of places with addresses to have as a backup should we all be scratching our heads and wondering where to go for brunch/dinner etc.
We want to get off the airplane (arrive 11am Friday) and go first to that place near the airport that is delicious but not fancy (can someone help me out with the name?) – Recommendations for must order at this place?
Then we have dinner reservations at Boucherie because we are celebrating one of the members of our group. Any recommendations for a good spot for happy hour pre-Boucherie? Is the walk from the FQ to Boucherie a nice walk? We don’t mind if it takes an hour to walk there, but is it a scenic walk? Is there a good spot near Boucherie for post-dinner?
From there on out, we have Saturday brunch, Saturday late afternoon snack, Saturday dinner, Sunday brunch, and Sunday pre-flight snack. These are the places I have down as possibilities:
Brunch: Elizabeth’s, Lukes, and Heuvos
Afternoon snacks: Napoleon House, Parkway Bakery
Dinner: This is really where I could use some help - we'd like an inexpensive, rowdy, casual, local food spot for dinner on Saturday. I’d love some recommendations.
Also – I’d prefer to avoid tourist trap bars and touristy jazz/blues spots – can someone recommend some good places for post-dinner music and drinks? We are all late-20s early 30s, and while we prefer to avoid the tourist traps, we’ll likely stay out all night.
Thank you for your time and comments/recommendations I can’t wait to see your city.
