The organization that I work for hosts an annual event for a group of "underpriveleged" high school students from the SF Unified School District. We honor them with a scholarship to attend college and invite their families to attend the reception.
We're looking to serve heavy hors d'oeuvres for about 150 people. The event is certainly not formal, but we try and make it feel a little special for the students (it's in the old, grand Green Room near City Hall). The food should reflect this, but also the fact that we've got a mix of tastes to take into consideration (high school students, plus a group that is primarily Black, Latino and Chinese).
The event is in San Francisco and we have about $2000.
Anyone got any bright ideas?
