Indonesia Restaurant on Post, SF

Just ate at Indonesia Restaurant tonight after deciding that it was too late to BART to Banana Garden. Not too impressed. We got:

Chendol - good palm sugar and coconut flavors in this drink, but the shaved ice was too coarse, and some of the strips in the drink made from rice powder was overcooked and tough.

Pretty good tahu telor (bean curd a.k.a. tofu and fried eggs with bean sprouts). Good flavors all round, although the version I really liked back home required very hot oil and beating a lot of air into the egg to get a puffy, lacy fried egg and also had drizzles of sweet/ketchup manis. The version here was on the flat side and used a peanut sauce (similar to the ones on gado gado).

Excellent fried kangkong (water spinach). Makes me wish that they had a version with sambal.

The mixed satay could have been a lot better. The meats were on the tough side and didn't seem to have seen a lot of marinate.

The beef rendang was slightly inconsistent - some pieces were more tender than others. Also, the spices were a bit off balance - too much cloves and/or cardamon - a bit overpowering,

It wasn't horrible on the whole, and the kangkong was a high point, but based on the other dishes I'm not dying to return.
