Looking for Indianapolis / Indiana Dishes

MonMauler | Sep 22, 2011 10:10 AM

I'm hoping CH will prove useful, as usual. Here's the setup:

I am a Steelers fan from Pittsburgh. On weeks that the Steelers have an away game my friends and I endeavor to cook a few dishes for which the home city/region is known. For example, the Steelers played in Baltimore a couple weeks ago, and we cooked crab soup, pit beef sandwiches, Old Bay dusted chips, and even rustled up some Natty Boh beer.

This Sunday night the Steelers play the Colts in Indianapolis. I am hoping the board might be able to suggest a few dishes that we could incorporate into our Indianapolis-themed menu. This is what we have so far:

Fried Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches: I've looked into these a little bit, and they sound tasty. I've found a number of different recipes/preparations and think I know how I want to approach making these sandwiches, but if anyone has any recipes or tips, they are appreciated. The following CH thread has been helpful with this:

Sweet Corn: I'm thinking of doing corn relish, or maybe just grilling up some corn. Creamed corn? I don't know. I'm not sure what preparations are considered the most traditional/notable/tastiest from around the Indianapolis region.

Other than that, I'm coming up short on ideas for foods we could cook. I've run a few searches on these boards as well as the wider web and just don't see anything that jumps out at me.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks, again.
