Best Indian Restaurants in SF

In Search of the Best | Dec 13, 200201:04 PM

My favorite Indian restaurant, Punjab Kabab House located on Eddy Street has seemingly closed its doors.

First of all, does anyone know if they are just rennovating and will reopen again or if they have shut down for good.

Second, where is the next best traditional Indian restaurant in San Francisco?

By traditional, I don't mean the fancy, expensive types like Gaylord's. More along the line of Shalimar and Pakwan. I don't like Shalimar because the food all taste the same, and it is simply too greasy. I know it gets rave reviews, but if any of their clientele has been to Punjab Kabab House, they will not go back. Forget Indian Oven. It is the proverbial restaurant for people who want more ambiance and are less focused on the true quality of the food. Curry & Naan is quite good, and cheap too. That is my regular haunt now
