Best Indian Food

im not telling | Sep 2, 2005 02:47 PM

Patang Indian restaurant on Central Avenue in Yonkers New York, across from NAthans, Golden Wok and just South of Coles.
Their buffet is SOOOO good. It's on weekdays and weekends, LUNCH only , I think. The weekend has a lot more to choose from but the price is a little higher.
The place used to be called Royal India Palace and we used to eat there a lot. It was so good we even ignored the baby roaches we would often see scury around the buffet table - hey, roaches gots ta eat too! And when the chowhounds got there before we could and at all the meat, only leaving sauce, well... That place really was great though.
When they closed down, I went through serious depression. When they reopened, it seemed like the place was going to go downhill. The atmosphere was still pretty blah, and they were making excuses for nasty bathrooms which didn't work. HOWEVER, once they got it together and renovated the place, it exceeded my expectations by far. Excellent ambience, presentation, service and food. RIP's (RIP) butter chicken was legendary. It appears as though the chef took the secret recipe with him! But otherwise, it's even better than RIP now. So go there! Just don't eat the Dosa before I get there or there's gonna be trouble.
