New Indian in Baltimore - Mem Sahib

Just finished a wonderful lunch buffet at a brand-new Indian place carved out of the southeast corner of the Lexington Market (yes, Lexington Market! Street side access only.) It opened on Monday I was told, and currently is a buffet-only, open from 11:00am until 8:00pm until they get their liquor license (although given the 'hood, perhaps a byob would work just as well...) The $7.95 today included moderate-heat tandoori chicken, goat curry, butter chicken, samosas, fresh naan, pakoras, lentil stew, and several other vegetarian options, as well as aromatic rice. Two desserts, one of which was a rich pistachio strewn rice pudding and the other (don't remember the name, was the dough balls soaked in syrup. The waiter told me tomorrow they will have lamb curry. The place is quite attractive - pale blue walls, white table cloths, lots of light streaming in, multi-levels, soft Indian music. Very attentive staff, but what do you expect when there are only three tables occupied? Please try this out if you are in the UMB campus area - we need to support the few good eats we can get in this part of town.
