Incontro, Franklin last evening... Oh dear!

Lilibet | Apr 29, 200708:50 AM

We had dinner their last evening with our best friends.

Valet parking, loved that feature as it was raining.

Made reservations for 5:30, good thing too as people who were just walking in were told there was an hour and half wait! It was crazy with people.

Were seated at a round table, nice and comfy. The lack of lighting, electric and natural proved to be a hinderance. The menu was very hard to read even with specs..a true sign of getting older! The sound level was deafening. We had trouble hearing one another and the musak in the background didn't help. We kept apologizing to the waitress for having to yell so she could hear us.

Ordered 3 salads and a mozarella/proscuitto plate (mine). I enjoyed it, 2 others were not that happy with their salads. Someone said that their greens were very bitter tasting.

On to dinner, me, a casoulette of chicken, pork and sausage on white beans, two others, their Saturday evening special of seafood, and one, the extra large double pork chop with sides.
Not impressed with what I had for dinner. The casoulette was served in a mini-skillet and was topped with two pieces of burnt french bread. The base was watery and overly tomato, and was mostly white beans. I had trouble finding any pork, chicken was stringy and sort of funky tasting, and only 3 tiny pieces of sausage turned up.
The seafood plates were meager, also served on white beans. (White beans turned up in everything, even the dipping sauce for our bread.) Two were very disappointed and ended up still hungry after they finished their dinner. Hubby got the double cooked chop which he said was very good. His sides were lackluster in taste but pretty to look at. Mashed was all piped on the plate but had no taste.

Dessert was a panna cotta with apples and cinnamon gelato, and a cannolli filled with something coconut or maybe it was the gelato. Can't remember which. The dessert went fast as everyone was still pretty hungry.

The bill came to $225 (include a bottle of Mark West pinot noir, a glass of wine and martini).
Not over the top in cost for 4 but we didn't feel like we got much bang for our buck.
Our server was the only plus all eveing. She was attentive and friendly, doing her best in a very, very busy and loud environment.

I know our friends won't go there again.

We might try it ourselves in the future.
