imprisoned at 8th & Market-where's breakfast?...and other dining choices

steve drucker | Oct 2, 200006:07 PM

Four of us on business Sun-Wed in two weeks, forced to stay at the Ramada Plaza International because of 20,000 visting medical folks and resulting lousy hotel availability.

What good place(s) are nearby to 8th and Market to eat breakfast? Our group preferences run traditional-pancakes, bacon, fresh fruit and OJ, real european breads

Other dining choices: after searching it looks like:

Sat morning dim sum (hey, we land at 10:00 AM and don't want to lose a minute): Seafood Harbor Restaurant
Sat nite: Chez Panisse Cafe, ok we took the 5:00 PM reservation, figuring that's really 8:00 PM for us.
Sun breakfast: open, but we'll have a car until Sun evening
Sun lunch: is Truly Mediterranean or La Palma Mexicatessen open on Sundays?
Sun Dinner: Will try for La Scene--do they serve the $23 early-bird on Sundays, and is the Chef working Sunday night?
Mon Dinner: Thinking about South Park Cafe (on Melanie Wong's recent affirmation), or Dusit for Thai
Mon & Tue Breakfast--Bob and I are stuck at the NFFA, but Carmen and Debie still need to eat!
Mon lunch: Open
Tue-mid afternoon: we have to go to a banquet Tue nite with 1000 other NFFA folks. Defensive Eating emergency around 3:00 PM. If we can stuff our faces at 3:00 PM, we can't possibly be hungry for Tue evening's Hilton banquet food. Suggestions?
Wed morning--its airport day. We need a BIG breakfast early--around 6:30-7:00, near the hotel. suggestions? Is Strait's or Doiges' (sp?) near us? I caught Strait's on my last visit, and the food was ok--but not nearly as great as the timeless atmosphere.

All help greatly appreciated.
