First Impression: Kissa Tanto

Decided to check out Kissa Tanto shortly after their opening about 3 weeks ago. It was a last minute call and I couldn't rustle up more than 1 friend so we didn't sample a lot of the menu.

The room is extremely on point - evocative and fun without being kitsch. Of course I was looking forward to cocktails and they did not disappoint. Had the Wrong Island Iced Tea which could prove extremely dangerous on a Friday night.

We shared a veggie platter which was essentially a series of pickles, plus some fresh steamed asparagus and raw radishes served with a lemon Creme fraiche. very refreshing. Also included a cheese flan which felt a little out of place. At $40, it felt a bit fussy.

Next up was the Koroke. There are a few options on the menu - we went with the guanciale but to be honest, I didn't taste much pork cheeky goodness.

We shared the casarecce with a pork sake ragu. This is the kind of dish I was expecting on the menu and I really enjoyed it.

Overall, I was happy but not blown away. I like Bao Bei but I've also never been overly impressed by the food there either. I would have liked to try more of the menu but will have to wait til next time.
