Impressing the Sis without breaking the bank - Austin

Okay, guys. Need your expert advice. Older (somewhat "elitist") sister is coming in town from San Antonio on Friday and wants me to "make reservations" for dinner.

Maybe it's the little sister in me, but I'm suddenly unsure of any decision I make. Here are the requirements:

Something "totally Austin", something she doesn't have to super dress up for (wearing slacks, no dress), something seriously good and isn't outragously expensive.

I was thinking about Castle Hill, but I've already taken her there for lunch. Was thinking about Driskall, but I think that may be a bit too dressy/costly (maybe not...). Was thinking about Eddie V's (she doesn't want that "chain feel). Was thinking about Gumbo's ("I can get gumbo here" but when I told her of the fish entrees, she seemed to warm up to that). Moonshine entered the picture, but I've only been for brunch. Vespaio was a thought but it's been over a year since I've been there and the last time left me a little flat.

I'm afraid I have been neglectful of trying all the nicer places.

Want to stay up to date with this post?
