The brave band of dim sum tasters went north for their low end tasting to the Imperial Garden at 2626 San Bruno Ave. in the City. It's just off the Silver Ave. Exit from 101.
I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but I must say this was the least impressive of the places we have tried. Not only were the numerical scores lower than any other restaurant, but the comments were more critical. The Yimster was particularly critical of the skills of the chef, as far as his ability to keep the skins of many dishes on. This was true of the shrimp balls whose skins were also flavorless. The chicken feet, never my favorite dish, was impossible to eat as they were spiced with something that absolutely turned me off. The ribs were tough and poorly flavored. The taro, a hit other places, was too pasty. There were two stand out extra dishes, a lobster plate with noodles that was very tasty though not strictly dim sum. The hit was little chive dumplings. However, one hit out of about ten dishes is not enough to consider returning.
