Well, we walked by Osteria del Forno and it seemed crowded at the time so we walked over to the Imperale. The menu looked good and the place was certainly awash in empty tables. We were solid Bonta fans when we lived in SF so we expected good food. Carbonara came with scrambled eggs, the penne was dull, bread was burned on the bottom and the wine(dolchetto) tasted vaguely like vinegar. Service was fragmented and it seemed to take forever for our simple pastas to arrive. Overall, I'd say it was a big disappointment. Allowing still for a very off day at the Imperale, I would be hesitant to return.I do hope to return to Cafe Macaroni as we also liked this place when we lived in SF. Unfortunately it was closed on Sunday.
