Quick update today - and we'd love your help to test these solutions going forward as they were tough ones!
1) Rotating Images
After uploading an image to a new post or comment, you may discover that the rotation is not quite what you expected. This has been increasing on Chowhound as more members upload images directly from their phones which generally rotate these images when viewed on the phone, but don't actually change the rotation settings on the image itself.
Going forward, you can click or tap on the image while editing your post or comment to open a full screen rotation view. Continue to click or tap until the rotation is set as you would prefer.
Please note: This process re-uploads your photo to Chowhound, so it may take a moment to complete.
Feedback welcome! This was a tough one for us, so we'd love to know if it works well for you on your setup. We have found it works smoothly in updated browsers, but may be difficult on older ones.
2) Upload progress indicators...
As phones have improved, many members have been uploading significantly larger image files than we've dealt with in the past, which requires more time for the image to finish uploading. To help make this clear, we've added a small animation that will appear over each photo until it is fully uploaded.
Looking forward to more Trip Report snaps!
