Il Grano dinner

6 of us went to Il Grano Saturday night. I had Grilled Calamari Salad (not on the menu), 2 had the Beet Salad and one had the Crab Tower and one had the Wild Mushrooms with Polenta. All were big hits. Entrees that I remember were White Salmon, Spinach Ravioli, and Black Cod. Fish were amazing beyond words. I had the cheese plate someone else had the Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Gelato. 4 cheeses on the plate, Parmesiano Reggiano, Fontina, Dried Ricotta and Gorgonzola. 3 were very good and the Reggiano was so salty as to be inedible. I guess it would be better on pasta but I am not sure. The strangest part of the evening was that it was a celebration of our 17th wedding anniversary. As a gift, the other couples brought us 2 bottles of wine. Without any trepidation, the waiter offered to open and serve the wine. He even brought 2 different glasses each to pour the 2 different wines. On the check they charged only 1 corkage of $15.00. As always, food was excellent and everyone agreed that the food and service were top drawer. We left a big tip to show our appreciation. I made a point of checking and the 5 course tasting menu is as I suspected still $55.00. What a bargain. The only reason that I didn't order it was that I wanted to be able to split the bill 3 ways with no trouble. The chef, Sal, greeted us when we arrived and checked in with us once during the meal. A nice touch.
