Il Convivio (London) redux

Back to Il Convivio last Friday - still wonderful.

I had kid cooked 2 ways - teeny, tiny little chops and a roast wrapped in proscuitto. Both versions were wonderful - and the broad beans and other veggies were terrific. Pud was a polenta cake with candied lime and mascarpone ice cream - totally yummy (and I'm not really a puds person).

Lunch is £14 for 2 courses service included (£18 for 3) and is quite a bargain for central London. Portions were generous, service good (although a number of the "lesser" servers don't speak much English and have to refer questions to their multi-lingual colleagues). The wine list is great - all Italian (except for the sparkling wines) with some great finds. There's a decent (but not large) selection of wines by the glass so there should be something for everyone.

One "bad" thing - their EXCEPTIONAL white espresso ice cream is only offered at dinner. Sigh! Still, I loved the polenta cake so I can't complain.

Eat on!
