Il Chianti - Lomita (review)

Rizza | Feb 15, 2006 03:57 PM

Just had lunch at this Japanese owned Italian place in Lomita. Awesome! Ordered the soup and salad lunch special with the caesar salad. The soup was a clear broth with bacon, egg, and onion - very Japanese. The predominant flavor was the bacon, but the soup was not too salty or greasy - just good. Served in a small coffee cup. The caesar was so good. Huge head of cool, crisp, organic romaine. Delicious dressing - predominant flavor was great quality parmesan powdering the top of the salad. I shared it with my SO and couldn't finish it. He said it was the best caesar he ever had. wow. SO ordered beef lunch special. Came with soup, salad, desert, rice or bread, and drink (beer). Excellent reduction sauce of beef broth and black pepper over thinly carved steak, slightly pink in the center - surprising due to the delicate slice. A little more Japanese in style. Dessert was a small slice of rich flan. Total bill:$20! I only regret that I didn't go with the bento box so I could try the pasta which looked amazing. All specials are written in Japanese on the boards, but the waitstaff were very informative. I will definately go back - and report back.
