Four of us went to Il Capriccio for the first time last nite (could never get rezies until now). Lovely ambiance/interior. Smalll menu (but could understand the why's and got beyond it). Lovely tasting food.... Horrendous prices on some items. So many yings and yangs to my evening, we were all left feeling deflated. $42 bucks for a veal chop (owe!) I actually wanted to eat light so opted for salad, and small lasagna bolognese (so I could enoy a dessert & cafe). Fennel salad, blood oranges very nice (again skimpy serving). The small (1/2 order)lasagna I almost laughed.... although very tasty, I swear it was the size of a large wonton wrapper... 2 small squares of pasta with bolognese in the middle..flat in dimension..lovely in flavor, but for $14 or $16 bucks??? I understand using quality ingredients, but how can it be justified in a 3x3 serving??? Gnocchi with short rib was excellent... price point not bad on that. In the end, 4 of us had 2 wines each, 4 salads, 4 entrees, 2 desserts, 2 coffees....the bill with tip was over $370 !! I liked their food, but just can't justify it. I actually made hot chocolate & PB & crackers at 11:30 pm.....I was hungry!
