Il Cantuccio - Why The Raves?

Went to Il Cantuccio last night and had an 8:00 reservation for 4 and did not get seated until 9:00. Not a good way to start off pacing the sidewalk on a cold night at 3rd & Fairmount. With no place to wait inside, this is not where you want to go in the Winter with how poorly they seem to manage their reservations. We got our first taste of food at 9:30 which was an appetizer plate of various veggies which was ok, nothing spectacular. We had different entrees, red snapper, veal medallions, buccatini and a filled pasta in cream sauce. The filled pasta was good but the buccatini was drowned in sauce. The veal medallions were tough and chewy. The red snapper was just ok. One expresso and one dessert and it was $160 including the tip. While the place is small and the tables close together, you don't have to worry about hearing conversation from other tables because the place is so loud you can't even hear any conversation at you own table. I guess other posters to this board have had better experiences but we won't waste time going back. We just didn't think it deserves the raves.
