I was speaking with my mom this morning and she was talking about the "great Italian restaurant" I took her to the last time she visited. I didn't see any past mentions of it here though.
Anyone else been to Il Boconcino (Corner of Sullivan and Houston)? It's mid- to high-range in terms of price, but I really can't think of a better meal I have had at an Italian restuarant. When we went it was almost empty, but the atmosphere was nice, the owner was very friendly.
Complimentary appetizers - some veggies lightly battered and fried (almost like tempura). I had an enormous veal shank stuffed with mozzarella and proscuitto, which was incredible. If I remember correctly my mom had a ravioli, i think it was pumpkin, with an almond sauce maybe. Whatever it was, it was as fantastic as the other dishes, the details of which I dont' remember.
I would highly recommend checking this place out.
