Thanks IKE for dining well in Jackson, MS

Mikey | Jan 18, 200504:22 PM

Well, well. I just got back from Jackson and was unable to pull up all the suggestions before I went. Nevertheless, I will have to be back a few times within the next few weeks. So sorry that I did not have the chance to try Nicks but I will certainly do so the next time around. Ike, your suggestions were perfect, however. I managed to find out from the locals where to eat and I must say that you were right on the mark. I dined at Walker's Drive In which was exceptionally good. I absolutely loved it. The setting was intimate and not stuffy and the crowd was super elegantly dressed. The restaurant was small and personal. The food was absolutely delicious. No complaints at all. I could not have eaten better. Also, had lamb chops at Char and a wonderful green salad as well as a fantastic cheese cake. Excellent food and also, a nice happy atmosphere within which to dine. Burgers on Saturday at Que Sera Sera were fantastic with some of the best home cut fries I have had in a while. I can't vouch for the other items on the menu but the burgers were wonderful. My dinner at Julep was perfectly nice. The food was not quite as good as with Char and Walker's but quite nice just the same. On the heavy side but very nice and friendly service. Lunch at Keifer's was okay, nothing great except the hot, grilled feta on pita was wonderful. Harvest Bakery? Is that the name of it? Not amazing by any means but perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. A simple chicken BLT on focaccia turned out to have overcooked tough chicken and undercooked, limp bacon with ugly tomatoes on it. Oh well, better luck next time. I will be back and will be happy to try Schimmels and Nicks. Thanks for you help!!! Mikey.
