had a really good meal last night at Ihawan, Philippine restaurant at 70th Street and Roosevelt. Sort of based on postings from the board, I chose a menu of the following:
Langonisa: sweet, charred, grilled pork sausage. Good lord what an awesome dish . . . 4 sausages split down the middle, so moist yet charred, really really really good . . .
Pork BBQ on stick: really good, sweet as well
Chicken BBQ fillet: also quite good, juicy, tasty
Grilled eggplant: pretty good, although I'm not sure if you're suppsoed to eat the charred skin; the interior was meltingly soft and perfectly cooked; served w/ some sort of onion/shrimp paste
Ginisang Sitaw (long beans, pork and shrimp): the best long or string beans I've had in quite some time . . really good, sauce was good too . .
unable to eat much more; although eyeing the halo-halo and leche flan . . . saw people ordering the steak w/ special sauce, which looked really good, as well as the fried lapu-lapu w/ sweet and sour, a huge piece of fish, looked so so good . . . next time will also try the dinaguan (it's really good at krystal's) . . .
yes, stuck w/ the grill, and well worth it; speedy service, very friendly, and dumb cheap . . . .
