Iggy's Bagel at Whole Foods

HLing | Jan 19, 2003 12:49 AM

I know that the big dog may disapproves, but I went to the Whole Foods market at 25th and 7th ave again today to try the Iggy's bagels. They're at the bread and cookie section. While I was there, I see people choosing the H&H bagels over Iggy's. Still, I stuck with Iggy's and got a multi-seed and a raison bagel. It's true that Iggy's bagels are a bit odd. They're really extremely tough and chewy, and yet not dry and boring. The multi-seed ones(or just the sesame ones)are so nutty and fresh tasting that it's like eating a bagel with sesame butter. None of the other sesame bagels have even a fraction of their sesame flavor. They may not be what the New Yorkers consider standard bagels(I've heard it's more like Montreal bagels), but I'll have to say, after the second try, I'm still convinced that as long as I have strong teeth, I'll always prefer them to any other bagels in town!
