Help me identify memorable cichetti place

Hello all,

I will be going to Venice in July with my family and I've spent the better part of this weekend exploring online to identify a very memorable bacaro that I visited in summer 2003. I did most of my original trip research using Chowhound, so I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help. The meal is one that will stick in our memories forever -- it was delicious, fun, and most of all, surprising. But why oh why did I lose the name of the place? Please help so I can go back in July!

Food: It was definitely a bar/bacaro, not a real restaurant. It didn't have a case displaying cichetti that you could see and order. I don't even think there was a menu (maybe a chalkboard or something like that). It was not touristy and there were no other foreigners there that I could see. Most people there were just having drinks. But we ordered what I can only describe as an enormous cutting board (maybe made of slate?) that contained about 12 different small items. We waited forever -- maybe 45 minutes? -- for our food to arrive and in the meantime had a few spritzes. We didn't know how large it would be and it was probably designed to be shared by 4-6 people. One of the items was steak tartare. One was a weirdly delicious tapa that included bananas. The other items included charcuterie, unique cheeses drizzled with various things... I just remember that everything was incredibly unique and delicious.

Location: No idea which part of the city. Not one of the outlying islands, but a bit off the beaten track, maybe Cannaregio or Dorsoduro? The place had a few indoor tables and I believe about 10 outdoor tables (where we sat). I believe there was a canal and a bridge within about a block of it. I don't recall seeing other restaurants around it, but I'm not sure. It definitely wasn't a busy spot, and it also didn't face out onto anything particularly scenic. It wasn't a small claustrophobic kind of street.

Hours: I think we were eating around 6-7pm and it seemed like the place was going to close soon after we finished.
