Ichimura is officially open. The room is simple, good lighting, 10 seat sushi bar, the bar is made of Brazilian quartz, nice looking serving dishes, great job they did. I understand that the construction is still going on so the room will change slightly.
This was opening night and there were no glitches. Ichimura-san got things done at his usual relaxed pace and got everyone fed and finished in time for the second seating. That is a difficult task, timing it exactly right.
We started with ankimo, satoimo with 2 toppings, herring roe, followed by fresh made delicious chawanmushi. Then a sashimi plate, with mirugai, ommaebi, marinated tuna, sayori, hirami, awabi, kin madai, shima aji, and a few more. Then warm shirako and grilled tile fish, so good.
Then sushi, The rice was perfect. The fish was perfect.
I forget all the pieces, but some were double chutoro, kisu, butterfish, ika, ikura, hokkaido uni, otoro, kohada, sawara, anago and probably 4 more pieces i left out.
The ginger was special young ginger from Japan. He cut it the usual way and then also extra thick. It was excellent. Then came fresh made miso soup, followed by dessert. The Service was excellent. The beverage list was excellent. Several really good sake by the glass, warm sake carafe, and good bottles , plus lots of wines, shochu, and beers.
One could not ask for a better omakase meal.
The price was high at $300. That includes tip. So I guess it's actually $250. Considering the variety and amount of food served, it really is worth the cost. It is , for example three times the number of pieces/dishes Nakazawa serves. Of course, Ichimura is a higher level quality wise.
All in all, it is a worthwhile experience and quite enough food. The perfect amount in my opinion, and dessert was included. Some other places do not include dessert.
I am happy for Ichimura-san finally having his own place. A beautiful place at that. I recommend it highly.
