thought i'd do a little ice comparison after spending a morning at rockaway beach the other day. i got a peach at ICE'S BY... and it was very good. it had flecks of real peach in there. i saw all the fox's u-bet syrup jugs laying around and i was worried but somehow it sure was good anyway.

next i thought i'd take a stroll in broad channel to MAMA'S. fyi directions--if you walk straight away from the train station on noel street to cross bay blvd. and take a left MAMA'S is just a few blocks down.

i got a lemon ice and it was initially really astringent but it was certainly good. i tried to mentally compare it to the LEMON ICE KING but who could say when it was 98 degrees and i was in the hot sun for so long. afterward i walked (staggered?) all the way down to a marina for a couple beers in the back tiki bar and chatted with some fishermen.

you think i'm just gonna walk by MAMA'S on my way back to the train? ha! this time i had a spumoni and that was hands down the winner of the day. very creamy, every flavor stood out as you ate it.

so since we're still in a heatwave anybody wanna compare ice's? what's your fav?
