Ice Cream in the SFV

Jess | May 30, 200511:26 AM

Growing up in the SFV, we never suffered for a lack of good ice cream places. There was Farrell's, Swenson's, Robb's (one of the first mix-in places and vastly superior to Coldstone), etc. The valley is hot, so naturally, you would think we would have good ice cream, particularly places where you could go and have a nice sundae.

But now, the valley seems to be an ice cream wasteland. Other than do it yourself at home, there's Baskin Robbins, Coldstone and the occasional Ben & Jerry's. And none of them have the ambience of a Farrell's or Swenson's where you can sit down and scoop the hot fudge off the side of chilled glass ice cream dishes.

Are there still any good ice cream places in the SFV? I know there's Fosselman's in the SGV, but I just can't really justify traveling that far for ice cream – particularly when a craving hits in the middle of a hot day.
