This is just an FYI thread for anyone who enjoys "It's-It" ice cream sandwiches, which are primarily a Bay-area goodie.
Normally, I'd travel with hubby on business and treat myself to a few of these every trip, as I've had them since I was a kid.
Ok, so the ice cream is not the best. Hubby describes it as "a barely edible hard frozen white substance...similar to chilled spackle" although he digs the granola-oatmeal type chocolate enrobed cookies gracing that spackle. Since he first tried them three years ago at the age of 43, I think the experience is different than if you try them when you're 8 years old. I like to think our palates are a little more sophisticated as the years roll on. I on the other hand, had my first sandwich at 8 years old, and it was nothing like I'd had before. So there's that nostalgic feeling.
After not having enough time on our recent SF jaunt to buy any (and having to live with my attitude driving home without them) we called the factory and they were kind enough to provide the tidbit that Ross-Swiss dairies (323)225-2448 can look up SoCal distributors if you give them your local zip code.
Lo and behold, there's a liquor store 2 miles from our apt. that carries them year round. My shrine has been found.
Anyway, just thought I'd share. Hope you all have a great weekend.
