ice cream parlors

I'm trying to round up as many old-fashioned ice cream parlors as possible, anywhere in America. Can anyone recommend any?

"Old-fashioned" is a subjective term, obviously, but I'm basically looking for places that meet as many of the following criteria as possible:

- At least 50 yrs old (preferably older)
- Family-owned for several generations
- Main St.-situated
- Make their own ice cream
- Lots of original fixtures

I think you get the idea.

Places I already know about (all of which I can heartily recommend) include Eddie's in Queens, NY; Lagomarcino's in Moline, IL; Beernsten's in Manitowoc, WI; and Crown Candy Kitchen in St. Louis.

Also: Anyone know how these types of establishments came to be called "parlors"? I can't think of any other type of eatery that has such a high-class description.

Thanks in advance for any help!
