I’ve never had a Brazilian. And neither has my partner. But new experiences are what holidays are about.
Food here is served rodizio style, which is the Brazilian version of the all-you-can-eat buffet. For the fixed price , you get access to the very comprehensive and good quality salad buffet which, oddly, includes sushi and such eastern Mediterranean stalwarts as baba ghanoush. Servers come to your table offering meat on skewers, which they carve off for you. You have a little marker – green on one side, red on another. Turn it to green and they stop and offer food. Turn it over and they pass you by. They arrive every few minutes with different items. There was New York sirloin, flank steak, short ribs, top sirloin, filet mignon wrapped in bacon. And that was just the beef. There was also roast lamb, homemade sausage, chicken hearts.
Yes, we were very greedy indeed. Most of these offerings were good quality, tasty and well cooked, although the short ribs and top sirloin were overly chewy and we left them.
We were about to admit defeat and ask for the check. Bu the dessert trolley arrived. Good marketing ploy this – a display of all their various desserts (not included in the rodizio price). We picked a guava cheesecake (cloyingly sweet) and a passionfruit one (sweet, tasting of the fruit and very rich).
Thought the experience was great. We’ve been meaning to try one of these places at home and now will have something to compare it to.
