The Last Hurrah

hiddenboston | Jul 21, 2005 10:00 AM

We went to The Last Hurrah in the Parker House for dinner last night. A few thoughts:

The food is good--mostly sandwiches and traditional American food--but I prefer the pub side of 75 Chestnut (a few blocks away, in the flats of Beacon Hill) for this kind of food.

The wine and beer list is excellent; lots of top wines, a number of great beers (Belgian reserve, Sam Smith, etc.), and top shelf scotch.

The atmosphere is very serene and low-key, especially considering it is in the heart of downtown. The Parker House is a beautiful old building...

I think that next time, I would probably eat at 75 Chestnut, then walk over to The Last Hurrah for drinks. It's actually a good place to watch a Sox game, as it is never very crowded, and many people at The Last Hurrah are out-of-towners and don't seem to be Sox fans, so it'd be easy to get a good seat for the game.
