Thanks to the hounds, I realized that this place existed even after I was already fond of Robbies to go and feed the tarpon - had never paid attention to the restaurant just in front of Robbies!
Hungry Tarpon was a great find - homey, kitchsy, great great service. We arrived well in advance of lunch (around 9;45 or 10 a.m.) since we calculated our drive time there incorrectly and I was craaaaving conch (we cannot get the pieces of mollusk heaven in Philadelphia). I asked for cracked conch and the waitress - as nice as can be - checked with the kitchen and voila...cracked conch. Also were able to get a fried mahi mahi sandwich (excellent, by the way). They couldn't blacken the stuff since that would get the griddle all messy and they were still in breakfast mode. I tell ya, the breakfast burritos looked divine....almost to the point of me canceling the order for the conch. Conch chowder, which she heatedin the mircowave was OK. Not excellent, but not bad.
I would go back in a heartbeat. Great find.
