Serious Hungarian fare in Worcester

Somehow, in what was once a cheesy hotel and is now a sketchy apartment building in downtown Worcester, there is an amazing upscalish Hungarian restaurant called Anna's Cafe. I have been there twice, and both times (a) the meal was amazing and (b) we were the only party there. Trust me--despite the plastic Keno sign outside, this is a form of chow heaven.

Chef Anna and husband/host Charlie, plus their staff, are quite authentically Hungarian--or so I have been assured by my fellow diners, who should know. What I know is that the food is really special. The menu is lengthy, but I can vouch for the homemade sausage, the stuffed cabbage, and absolutely anything that includes the spectacular koloszvari bacon. The bacon alone is worth the trip. Anna apparently used to be a pastry chef, and the desserts I've tried have been pretty wonderful also--a chestnut tart covered with dark chocolate one time, and a towering strawberry charlotte with the freshest whipped cream another.

The service is friendly, bordering on intimate. They want you to feel like family. Please help me patronize this place before they go under!
