Hunanese Restaurant Opens In Rowland Heights; Sin Ba La, Too

Another one of those relatively rare animals, an authentic Hunan style restaurant has recently opened up in Rowland Heights. Hunan Restaurant is at 18406 Colima Road, #D in the Hong Kong Supermarket plaza, towards the front without any English signage. Definitely more working class than the old Charming/Shiang Garden in Monterey Park. Menu is relatively small with several dozen items and everything is under $10. Had the Hunan style fish ball which was very good and very interesting--a fish ball shaped and cooked like a fish fillet and only $4.99 as a lunch special item. Meanwhile, across the street Arcadia's favorite snack shop, Sin Ba La, has set up operations next to the supermarket (formerly Von's). They seem to be doing a booming business already, not surprising based on the popularity of their Arcadia location.
