A new Hunan place with quite an authentic menu has opened on 3rd Ave. between 12th and 13th. I have finally gone, only had cucumbers with garlic, loofa with edamame, and a brisket-tendon casserole. All were good, if not outstanding. The place is empty and Han Garden, practically next door, had people waiting on the street: yet IMO Han Garden is very "westernized", everything is too sweet, too greasy, one-dimensional. The wait staff is super nice and do speak reasonable English. Give it a try!
