I'd love to hear some recent feedback about Hugo's. I'm particularly concerned with attitude, as I've read that that's an issue there. Tonight we stopped by to take a look at the menu - my wife pointed out to the person behind the bar that the sign on each of the two doors to the restaurant had an arrow pointing to the other door. He said, snootily, "that's because we're not open." As if their way of letting interested clients know they're not open is to direct them in a vicious circle of doorhopping until they do in fact open. He then handed her two copies of what he said were menus, but were actually just glowing reports about the award the chef just won.
So...is it worth the fuss? Is it a friendly environment, or just pretentious? Other commentary about recent experiences would be much appreciative (as would possible alternatives, where we might be able to get weekend reservations on short notice).
