huey's hot dogs(revisited)

i stumbled upon huey's today, recommended for their burgers by my salesman at the alamo shoe store, around the corner on clark in andersonville. i ordered a hot dog, and i was very happy i did. the good news,, it was a vienna beef dog; they char grilled it; they have sauerkraut; the bun is rosen's with poppyseeds(i think a step up from mary ann's); the bun was steamed but not even a little soggy, a serious problem at many places. last, but not least the fries were crispy, not pallid, and not greasy. i'd have preferred ones with the skin on, but all in all, the best dog i've had in chicago.
before posting, i searched to see if anyone had mentioned huey's before and i found an earlier post from harry V which completely trashed the place. i dont know if colleen, the current owner, is the original owner, but nothing in his review(greasy fries, soggy bun) applied today. i actually had a long talk with colleen, she was the kind of person us chowhounds love to meet; proud of her business, eager to serve, and happy to answer questions.
i told her about the hot dog carts in toronto, which are dear to my heart, and she started to take notes. she was interested in the idea of possibly offering a self-serve condiment bar, as the carts do. i'm emailing her the picture GWiv took on his last trip to toronto. all in all- i eagerly await my return trip, where i will be checking out the polish sausage. joan
