Passing by Howie's Artisan Pizza location in Redwood City this morning I noticed a banner announcing a Brunch/Bake sale starting today. Was curious so went in to see what they had to offer. The bake sale items are available until they sell out. Brunch is served from 8:00 am - 11:00 am on the patio, I think only on Saturday & Sunday. Looking at the menu, the brunch looks like a total deal: Several different omelets served w/either hash browns or summer fruit cup & a choice of any item from the bake sale!!! The bake sale items range from $3.00 to $4.25 so $12.00-$13.50 for an omelette sounds terrific to me!
Bake sale items included croissants, kouign amann, almond croissant, pain au chocolat, passion fruit custard bun, bostock, blueberry muffins, brioche tart w/bacon & gruyere, coffee cake, & a few others. Got a chance to chat with John, chef de cuisine. I asked if the laminated goods are being baked in house & was told yes! Be still my heart... IIRC John formerly worked with Belinda Leong at B Patisserie. These days my life doesn't include baked goods much, but I can enjoy them vicariously watching Bob eat them! Got him a Passion Fruit Custard Bun, a Kouign Amann & a Pain au Chocolat. (I had to have a bite of the Passion Fruit Custard Bun, oh Lord, it was one of the most delicious things I've tasted in quite some time. I thought long & hard about just scarfing the darn thing, but my senses returned & I gave it to Bob... I see that the baked goods are available by the dozen, $36.00.
I think soon I will have a date with an "Exotic Mushroom, Gruyere & fresh Herb" omelette & one of those Passion Fruit Custard buns... Need to check out their Margarita Pizza too for DOTM Aug 2015!
