I don't know. I've been to Star several times over the years (decades) and I don't get it. I never have seen why people thought it was so spectacular. It's not bad, but it's not a religious experience either.
Most places around town can turn out a competent pizza. I like the Mona Lisa at Collina's and the Greek pizza at NY Pizzeria (yeah, ok, so it's a chain, but the pizzas and calzones are really good and the people at the Highway 6 location in Sugar Land are friendly, pleasant, and hardworking).
What's your favorite Houston pizza place these days? What do they do best?
