I'll be in Houston this weekend, staying at The Lancaster Hotel (701 Texas Ave.) I've heard the area variously referred to as "Downtown," "The Theater District," "Near Jones Plaza," etc. I'm sure you Houstonians will know where it is! ;-D
I won't have a car, so we're looking for nearby (walkable would be great, but not mandatory) and preferably authentic (non-touristy) barbecue, Tex-Mex and breakfast. Any recommendations for "can't-misses," or legendary places with great local atmosphere would be appreciated. I know that I might be in a touristy part of town, but anything that fits the description would be great! Also is there anything open late-night (Texas or Tex-Mex style diners, etc.) in the area?
Thanks very much!
