At around 9 pm last night, as I was walking home down 9th ave, I passed by the House and noticed the lights were off and the place was closed. My first reaction was 'oh, maybe they changed their sunday hours' or something like that. Then I looked up above the restaurant and saw a sign on the building that said 'restaurant space available'!
The House was one of my favorite places to eat in the neighborhood. Although many may poo-poo the idea of "fusion" (and I hate to use that word), House chef Larry Tse created dishes that were simple; not the overly complex and confusing fusion food at most restaurants. The food was always extremely consistent, delicious, and well priced. I took all of my out of town guests there and they always loved it.
This is the second great restaurant in the inner Sunset to close in the past year (after Avenue 9, another favorite of mine). If Arizmendi or Gordo's or any of the other great restaurants go, I may go too.
If anyone has any idea what Larry Tse is up to next, please let me know!
