Hot tiems at Floating Rock

pastrytroll | Mar 23, 2003 04:30 PM

We had lunch at Floating Rock this afternoon, and ordered some of the old standbys, plus chow foon. The house special chow foon was good - the vegetables in it were outstanding.

The chow foon came out first, and I added some chili sauce because chowfoon is just bland. The very attentive waitress observed, and the squid salad this time (we've ordered it twice before) was hot - very hot - super pro league hot! She watched our reactions, came by to ask if it was too hot and apologize (actually, no, but almost -after the shock wore off, and my lips started to heal, we polished it off!)
So the next two dishes to come out were toned down a bit. The chili pork and tiger tears were yummy spicy, but not explosive. And a couple of the pinapple milkshakes helped too.

So, chowhounds - all that 'pet pet' and 'pet ma' stuff may be useful, but letting the staff see you actually pile on the chilis can get you whiplash on your way to hot!
