Hot Puffs

Iron Frank | May 14, 2002 06:52 PM

A two-day old Israeli fast food franchise has opened on Madison between 34/33. It's called Hot Puffs and has three permutations(rectangle, triangle, or circle IIRC) of the same dough (a calzone, pocket type thing) along with a choice of baked or fried preparation. For about 3 bucks I got a rectangle stuffed with spicy lentil. The lentil daleque filling was about a 2 on a ten point scale of spiciness. The option for this shape was butter and potato. The dough was a kind of bland and pillowy like a giant soft pretzel. Still the whole thing held some promise in terms of it offering some variation from the usual fast food traps in the area. Give it a shot and report back on other options there.

Avoid the Lavazza coffee there, it's quite terrible.
