If you are looking for some great Mexican Food with that
family recipe, home cooked taste, I would like to recommend El Pueblito in Clovis, CA near Fresno. Really tasty traditional Mexican fare and very wallet friendly prices. You can feed a family of four for what you would pay for two dinners at Chili's, Chevy's or On the Border.
We stopped by during Christmas vacation and found they had great tamales. They even packaged up a dozen for us to take home for the Holidays.
The restaurant is located at the corner of Sunnyside St. and Tollhouse Avenue about three blocks south of Herndon Avenue. Very close to Hwy 168 which takes you to several Sierra lake resorts including Shaver Lake and Huntington Lake resort at 7000 feet ( the Sierra Summit ski area. formerly known as China Peak.)
If you are visiting Clovis in the summertime check out the Farmers Market every Thursday evening June to Sept. Great fresh fruit and vegetables from local growers and some really good vendors selling fast food like bbq tritip sandwiches, bbq chicken, fresh pizza. Each week there is live entertainment from a variety of musical talents. You can check out antique stores and other vendors too on Pollasky Ave, in Downtown Clovis -Old Town. The have a web site at www.oldtownclovis.com.
