I noticed a new hole in the wall on California Street called "Nieman's." Thinking it might be a retail arm of the Nieman's beef empire, I popped in. Unfortunately, it seemed like just the usual roundup of salads and smoothies you see everywhere else - plus "all beef hot dogs."
Having gotten into the mood for meat (and given the shady, vacant tables outside) I got one. I can't remember the last time I had a hot dog - mostly because they are almost universally foul. This one, however, was amazing - plump and beefy, and served on a really first-rate bun.
This place isn't a "destination" - but if you want a $3.00 hot dog in the financial district ($4.50 for the chili dog) with a place to sit, this could be a really good bet.
