Hooray for Brookline Breakfast Option: Brothers is darn good

teezeetoo | Mar 17, 2015 11:43 AM

As a devotee of breakfast, I'm thrilled to announce that Brothers, on Harvard across from Wulf's Fish Market, is very good. They serve breakfast until 3 PM (lunch and dinner hours, full bar, but I haven't tried those options yet). I had something called midorient eggs: excellent poached eggs served over delicious, fresh sautéed peppers, onions and tomatoes with a hint of middle eastern spices. Spouse had the "best corned beef hash except for yours" and he may have been sucking up to me because I thought it was as good as mine. Crunchy, corned beefy, and as we like it. His poached eggs were just as he asked for: on the soft side. Coffee is good for morning diner coffee and you have the option of expresso or cappuccino as well. The menu is large: the folks near us told us they were extremely happy with their pumpkin pancakes which looked excellent on the plate. Minor caveats: we understand they bake their own muffins and scones and we'll try them next time, but the bread served with the mains was of the crappy packaged variety. Hoping they consider getting their bread from When Pigs Fly so we can get some decent toast! Our waitress was sweet but clueless: only 6 customers but she couldn't manage to remember water and ketchup in the same trip and she seemed to wander around aimlessly when customers were kind of looking for her. Still, we give it a big thumbs up and are looking forward to trying some more things from the extensive breakfast menu and seeing what they are doing with their other meals.
