More Hoomoos

Had an excellent lunch at Hoomoos today (Kenmare and Lafayette) -- mallawach (pron. mull-AH-wach, with the gutteral ch sound at the end). It is a fried pastry halfway between french toast and pancake -- crispy, golden crust and chewy interior -- it is served with crumbled feta cheese and sliced olives on top. This would be an almost perfect breakfast food, unfortunately Hoomoos is not open for breakfast. So go eat it for lunch!
