I've been to Honolulu a few times before, but haven't explored the local restaurant scene too much. In November I'm going to be there for 5 nights with 2 friends - we're all single women in our late 40s. I want to make a few dinner reservations in advance rather than just winging it like we usually do. I've read lots of prior Honolulu threads but most of the requests seem to fall into three categories - family friendly, cheap eats, or romantic / super special occasion - and I'm looking for none of the above. What I am looking for are places where the food and the scene are both very good to great. I cringe as I use the words hip and hot, but that's kind of what I mean. In terms of our tastes, one of us doesn't eat any seafood, another isn't fond of most meat, and the third eats everything. So a menu with some variety will serve us best. Good wine and/or cocktails definitely a plus. We're staying in Waikiki but willing to travel for a great meal (not sure yet if we'll be renting a car). Some names that I've run across in my research: Morimoto, Salt, Town, MW, 12th Avenue Grill. Thoughts?
