Honda Ya Tustin

ErikaK | Mar 29, 200610:28 AM

On a whim, in the pouring rain, we decided to finally check Honda Ya out, and boy are we glad we did. We even took our junior chowhound with us (he is 7 and is pretty adventurous eater for his age).
Besides, we are warming up for 10 days in Japan next month!
Yakitori - quail eggs (eh... but jr liked his), beef (yum), white meat chicken (brushed with wasabi, really good), spicy wing (not too spicy), pork belly (wow this was the best, we had to go for 2 more skewers)
shrimp shumai (jr's favorite), these were pretty good, but I prefer crispy gyoza over steamed shumai
salmon collar (they were out of yellowtail collar :() was outstanding
we had one of the little stewed dishes, pork with spinach, the pork was tender & yummy, why don't most Americans like fatty pork? I don't get it....
3 beers and 1 nigori sake, and one Sprite, and the damage was only about $60 for the 3 of us. Not bad!
Thanks Chowhounds for the recommendaton on this - definitely in our "heavy rotation" list of places to go.
